James da Costa is a Co-Founder and COO of Fingo – the first pan-African digital bank designed for Africa’s 500 million youth. Fingo recently graduated from Y Combinator and received backing in its seed round from a number of unicorn founders and global VCs. With Fingo, in 240 seconds, any young person can access a full suite of financial services including personal, investment, and savings accounts. Fingo offers 90% cheaper transactions and has partnered with Ecobank, the largest footprint bank in Africa, to provide market access to 33 African countries. Fingo aims to bring all of finance to all of Africa.
James draws his roots from the UK, India, and Kenya. James is passionate about fintech disruption and Web3’s potential on the African continent. Prior to Fingo, James was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in London focused on corporate business building and a Co-Founder of Mandala Group, a tech-focused social enterprise building SMS and voice-based tools in rural India and Kenya on feature “brick” phones. James is a Forbes 30 Under 30, Alibaba eFounder, One Young World Ambassador, and Gates Foundation Goalkeeper.
