What does it take to be a leading Innovator Under 35?

Since 1999, MIT Technology Review has honored the young innovators whose inventions and research shape the future. Today, it is a global community known as Innovators Under 35, a list of technologists and scientists, all under the age of 35. Their work – spanning biotechnology, materials, computer hardware, energy, transportation, communications, Internet, and more – is changing our world.

With the arrival of MIT Technology Review Arabia, so too do we now begin to honor our region’s young innovators by selecting those who are advancing their fields of technology and science. The inaugural list was launched in 2018, and will continue to grow every year, citing the brilliant young men and women in the Middle East who are advancing their communities and the world. These innovators work in areas as diverse as biotechnology and medicine, computer and electronics, hardware, software, Internet, artificial intelligence, robotics, telecommunications, nanotechnology and materials, energy and transportation, and much more.

MIT Technology Review Arabia relies on its committee of judges, made up of experts from leading universities and companies, to select the best and most innovative candidates. The award recognizes five different categories of winners: Inventors, Entrepreneurs, Visionaries, Humanitarians, and Pioneers. From generating new opportunities to reimagining how things are done, this competition creates a unique platform for individuals who strive to make a disruptive and impactful change in the world.
